*One note: The "Who" category isn't necessarily meant to suggest that certain climbers should or should not take a particular supplement. Instead, it's meant to convey for whom the supplement might be most appropriate for a number of different reasons, including the:

1) Benefit a user will gain from a supplement based on the users' athletic background and current ability. All climbers will not experience the same benefits from each supplement.

2) Commitment required to experience results. Certain supplements take up to a month to become fully effective. Climbers who aren't advanced enough to notice minor improvements in fitness might be disappointed.

3) Dedication required to see results. Some supplements need to be taken on a specific schedule, such as right before bed. Supplements only work if you take them correctly.

4) Willingness to accept certain common, minor, unharmful side-effects. Beta-Alanine is an example of one such supplement, as most users experience a mild tingling sensation on their skin (paraesthesia) for an hour or so after taking the supplement. This typically subsides after a few weeks' use.
